How to calculate Instagram engagement rate

The formula

engagement rate = (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100

One post can mislead; average your last 10–12 posts. For example, an account with 50,000 followers averaging 1,400 likes and 100 comments: (1,400 + 100) ÷ 50,000 × 100 = 3%.

What is a good rate?

• Under 1%: low
• 1–3%: average
• 3–6%: good
• Over 6%: excellent (more common on smaller accounts)

How it affects your rate
